100094 - A Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in an alergic preschool-aged child. Case report
Case report
The authors present the case of a 4 years and 8 month year- old girl who has brought to the officce by her mother for a three days history of fever, headache, malaise, sore throat followed by progression of lower respiratory symptoms, including hoarseness and rare cough but she has no coryza. The girl's history was remarkable for dust allergy and repeated upper respiratory infections. Two weeks ago,her 8 years-old sister has diagnosed with bronchopneumonia with favorable evolution after initiating Cefuroxime treatment. Repeted tests for flu, CoVid and RSV were normal, although there are some cases of influenza in her community. The clinical exam of the lungs was normal. We started to treat her with Cefuroxim and antihistaminic, but the fever persists, the cough became more and more frecvent and nonproductive, so she could sleep only a few hours at night. Bloot analysis are normal with exception of elevated CRP. Polymerase chain reaction performed on nasopharyngal aspirate was positive for Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The evolution was favorable after start the treatment with Claritromycin.
