D2.65 - Clinical relevance of sensitizations to pneumoallergens detected in southern Spain
Background
Respiratory allergy is one of the most frequent reasons for consultation in allergology. In areas such as the province of Seville, where polysensitization to multiple pneumoallergens is common, it is vitally important to assess their clinical relevance by means of the patient’s clinical history, complementary tests and environmental pollen and fungi rate counts.
Method
This is a retrospective observational study of a sample of 145 children (n=145), dwellers from the province of Seville, aged between 3-16 years who also presented respiratory symptoms compatible with allergy and Prick test with positive pneumoallergens battery, as assessed in 2024.
Pricks' battery is made up of the data shown in Table 1.
In addition, the counting of pollen grains and spores of Alternaria a. registered in 2024 in the two stations that the province of Seville has (Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena and Hospital del Tomillar) through the website video abstract is reviewed in order to assess its presence in the area and correlation with patient outcomes. These stations are located distant from each other (one in the center of the city and the other on the outskirts of the metropolitan area).
Results
Results are shown in Table 1.
Conclusion
Sensitizations with clinical relevance in the province of Seville are the following, ordered from greater to lesser importance: mites (Lepidoglyohus d. and Dermatophagoides p.), Olea e., grasses, Alternaria a. and Platanus a.; which in turn coincide with the highest figures available from the counts.
