Case report

The authors present the case of a 2 years and 2 month year- old girl, who was brought to the office by her parents with a 2-day history of diarrhea, rhinorrhea, fever and abdominal pain. There is a  family history of allergic rhinitis on the father's side. The girl's history was remarkable for dust and milk allergy. She had constipation two weeks ago and her mother gave her Apiland tonic junior five days ago (a product with royal jelly, polifloral honey, propolis, raw pollen and orange juice) for 3 days.  Initially she had  waterly stool and than presented bloody diarrhea. On physical exam she was pale, her pharynx was erythematous and had mild abdominal tenderness , but she was well hydratated.  Laboratory testing showed: low hemoglobin level and stool culture was reported as positive for Campylobacter spp.  It was recommended that she recieve supportive care, including appropriate hydration and close follow-up. After two days, the fever was gone, but the girl continued to have bloody diarrhea. She was treated with a 3 days course of Azithromycin and she recovered completely.
