D3.194 - Renewal’s analysis of liquid sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) treatments using iPUMP: SPEED study, a Real-Life study

Poster abstract

Background

SLIT liquid has demonstrated its efficacy on asthma onset and progression, significantly impacting patient’s quality of life. However, its requirement for daily use over a minimum of 3 years presents a real challenge to adherence. To address this issue, iPUMP®, a connected device, was proposed to patients as a tool designed to support adherence to the SLIT treatment. SPEED study aims to evaluate the impact of iPUMP® on treatment adherence and persistence and examine the long-term use of SLIT.

Method

In this study, the renewal’s analysis of liquid SLIT is based on orders from the Stallergenes Greer database. A data cleaning process was performed to remove empty rows and missing information on the analysis variables, along with a conversion of statistical units from the order to the patient being treated for an allergy (n=10567), carried out by the company AplusA.

Results

The study highlights the significant impact of iPUMP® on the renewal rate and daily consumption. Indeed, 82% of patients equipped with activated iPUMP® renew their treatment, which is 15% higher than those without iPUMP® (67%). Furthermore, the daily consumption of vials is also higher among patients with activated iPUMP®, according to calculation based on average days of consumption between two orders (tiering from <=0.0516 to > 0.127 vials/day). The use of iPUMP® particularly enhances treatment persistence, especially in the 3-11 age group (+19pts - table 1). SLIT consumption is improved by the use of iPUMP® for all age groups, with a greater impact among those aged 3-11 (+24 pts on high consumption cluster: >0.103 vials/day). These results suggest that the possession of iPUMP®, promotes better treatment adherence.

Conclusion

IPUMP® shows a substantial impact on both treatment renewal rates and daily consumption. These results suggest the effectiveness of iPUMP® in improving treatment adherence, especially among young patients.
